    hi guys,
I'm currently on 1.1.5 firmware on my 1G iPod Touch. So my question now is: should I upgrade?

The things I really need are: (and if theyre avaiblable as far as I know on 2.x firmware)
    Notes.app - AVAILABLE
    Mail.app - AVAILABLE
    Screenshot ability - AVAILABLE
    Safari DL Plugin - AVAILABLE
    MobileFinder - AVAILABLE
    Terminal.app - AVAILABLE
CommandLine utilities like unrar or unzip - AVAILABLE

Importing Music to MobileMusicPlayer.app directly on the device - NOT AVAILABLE

Chatmessenger(s) for AIM+ICQ+MSN WITH (!!!) history-saving function!!! (this one is VERY important to me) - NOT AVAILABLE

until now the 2 points (musicimport + messenger) are holding me on 1.x firmware cuz there I can do these 2 things

(Importing with iSlsk and history-saving with AgileMessenger)

so now the question to you guys:
does anybody know solutions for me? I mean are there possibilities to get these 2 things to work on 2.x firmware? at least the messenger thing 'cuz is more important than the music-importing one.

are there any appstore apps (mesenger for msn+icq+aim) which support saving history?

or are there enough other reasons to upgrade?

@mom my ipod touch 1G is up and running very stable.
hope you can help me or give me some suggestions.

    greetings
    mirror1

you cant import to the music app, but pwnplayer is even better and plays downloaded files just like the music app

    thanks for your answer,
yes I already read about this (pwnplayer) but I need the music-importing possibility 'cuz I want to drag&drop music from the ipod to itunes on many pcs.

and not on every pc there's ssh or ftp available

thats why I need that so much.

yeah so when pwnplayer and "new name other than islsk" is out then you can upgrade. stay tune to the front page when pwnplayer is out with the new soulseeker..

hm yes...a few minutes ago I found this one:
    BeeJiveIM

it costs a few bucks but that's no prob if it really does that what I want it to do^^ - in the description it says something about history-saving, does anyone own this app and can tell me a bit more? how does the history-saving/mailing function work?

and I also think that I'll leave a backdoor if I upgrade, I mean that I'll do a fullbackup of 1.1.5 firmware (SSHing of the whole 16GB) before I upgrade to 2.x so I can downgrade without having my files lost

yes, the backup process is currently running, I experienced that with "PureFTPD" installed on the ipod touch and usign FTP connection (not SSH or SFTP which is SSH based) is much faster (I've got WiFi full load ~40mbit/s

it'll take an hour or two but then it's done

after that I'll give the 2.x firmware a try and if I'm not convinced then I'll downgrade as you did
