Not really, but I am quite confused. I have been jailbreaking since 1.x.x and this one has really got me. I jail broke in firmware 2.2.1 on my 2G touch. It was being retarded and not charging for some reason so I just decided to restore it.

NOW, this is where my problem starts. I go to restore to factory settings and everything goes fine until it prepares the iPod for the restore. It goes into a very weird loop, I can't read what it says. I then downloaded a clean version of the firmware and it does the same exact thing.

I know a lot of you are going to say "DFU". No, it doesn't work.. So, any suggestions would be much appreciated. I jailbroke using redtool with a custom firmware, if that helps. I can't rejailbrake because my iPod won't go into DFU mode. Much thanks for any help.

Well, I've done DFU correctly before.. Maybe go through the steps?

The restore error is 1604 i believe. Right before it does the actual restore the screen has a loop. What exactly is iRecovery?

Have you tried Restarting your computer? Using a different cable, or Using a different computer? Is your iTunes updated to the Current Version?

No, i have not restarted my computer, but I think it has to do with my iPod. Yes, I have tried another cable. No, I have not used a different computer. Yes, my iTunes is the most current version.

If you get 1604, then use my signature's link to fix it.

You asked what irecovery is? jawcl has got you hooked up, just do exactly what he says in that file.
That's a wikid error tho... a n00b would prolly end up giving up, or annoying the crap out of us here. Glad it never happened to me.
