    Old charger on new iPod?

Okay, so I bought a Philips iPod Car Charger today at Walgreen's. It was on clearance, and was like 8$ so I figured why not. What I didn't think about was that this charger is a few years old...and years ago the connectors were a bit different. Has anyone looked at the plug in the older iPods? The pins are different. There seems to be more pins sticking up (??) than what is on the newer generations. For some reason (probably because I'm crazy) I'm scared to plug it in because since the older charger seems to have more pins showing, I feel like it's going to ruin the metal pins inside my iPod charging port. Am I wrong? Has anyone used a older charger/usb cord on their new iPods?

Does anyone even know what I'm talking about?

Thanks, I'm sure it WORKS, but is it okay?

Have you looked at the old charger compared to a new usb cord? The metal pins sticking up are completely different, and have a different pattern...

Okay, sorry, I freak out about crap like this.

I hadn't realized it was different until inspection, and saw the pins were different.

    Thanks for the reassurance.

Apple would not be as stupid as to make the newer devices not support the older USB's.

Either way, Apple wouldn't do that. People aren't that keen to details. They see things look similar, they both came with iPods, are both called 30-pin dock connectors, and are the same size, they'll plug it in. If it didn't work, it would really cause Apple headaches with replacing them with refurb models.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Didn't even think about this.
