When I dowgrade, it gives me the 3194 error on iTunes 9.2 & 11 Error on 9.1. After editing the hosts file, I got error 1012. (Can't remember but near that) Now, I have a 2G MB iPod Touch. I want to also spoof the apps to think I'm on 4.0, Is this possible? ALSO, MB's don't require SHSH blobs. Here's my hosts file:

    # Copyright (c) 1993-2004 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # AutoGenerated by Microsoft (R) Malware Protection Engine.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    # 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    ::1 localhost

You don't need to spoof the hosts file if you have an MB model. Shift+Click and restore is all you need to do.

I get 3194 error always. And my iPod gets kicked out of recovery for no reason! (Press home while plugging in.)

I've been having that problem as well trying to downgrade from 4.0. I ended up going to 4.02, and my battery isn't liking it one bit.

You need SHSH blobs to restore to 4.0+ on any model.

Your problem may be with the # in front of "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com".

    MB's don't need SHSH blobs.
