Agreed. As much as I am not a fan of Android, some of the UI's are pretty neat looking. My wife has an HTC Sensation and the amount of things she can do with it dwarf what my iPhone can do. Yes, I am a little jealous. No, I wont be getting android.
Video 1: Ok, I would buy that. Seems to make sense to me Video 2: The idea of expanding apps is a very cool idea. Will it happen? Probably not but still cool to think about. Mission control multitasking would be cool also.
Still needs a UI redesign as I said before and Apple now has more freedom of choices since Steve's passing. Apparently Steve said no to some things that were thought up.
Oh yeah. A UI update/redesign is really do or die at this point. While iOS is still a good platform, its become dated and predictable. They really need to change things up if they want to stay on top. As for Steve Jobs... While he was brilliant with what he did with Apple, he also put a lot of unnecessary restraints on the evolution of iOS. Its one thing to have app developers follow Apple's rules. But its another thing not to allow for growth and expansion within the OS itself. Like I said before, there are some things on Android that I wish Apple would blatantly copy like quick access to wifi/bluetooth toggles in the notification center. Who knows if that will happen but regardless, it NEEDS to happen.
Yeah that's I meant to say. He put unnecessary restraints on the evolution and expansion of iOS as well as make it bigger today than it was before
Yeah and thats something that I have never been able to understand. Why put so many restrictions on iOS? I understand not wanting to make it open source like Android but he could have at least left some breathing room for HUGE improvements over the years, not small things. I sometimes wonder if he cringed when they introduced notification center in iOS5?
I would say because of OS performance. Since a lot of not-too-new iDevices have only a small bit of RAM, adding big improvements would slow it down. Not so much on Dual-Core devices but a good bit on devices with 1 core.
More control over AppStore App updates such as hiding specific app updates, selecting specific apps to update as a group, seeing the size of each update, etc. You know it's a low quality image when you can count the pixels.
Definitely an update to the home screen. Siri doing more is a given. Maybe the ability to find reviews helpful on the App Store. "Share" apps with more than just email. (Twitter, facebook, etc.) Updated YouTube / Other Apps. Widgets have a high probability for iOS 6. Ability to download via Safari (Unlikely, but here's to hoping). As for Siri, I just bought an app called iTranslate. That has a pretty cool feature, aside from the app being really quiet when its speaks. I'd love to see apple integrate translations with Siri. Maybe once all popular voices are supported. Also ability to use a man's voice / female voice (without changing language). I'd love to have Jarvis (Ironman) as my Siri voice, or Morgan Freeman/Samuel Jackson. Improved Folders is needed also... Personally I love the old school jailboke way for it. "Categories". Where the icons are displayed looking like the regular icons on the springboard, rather than a drop down. Also the 12 icons in a folder is horrible... A better spotlight feature, I don't even use it right now. Improving the dock, maybe have a feature so it shrinks when there are less Icons. (smaller dock if you have only 1 icon, normal dock if you have 4.) The fold to unlock idea is amazing, iPhone needs a new lockscreen. The iPhone apps calculator, stock, weather, etc need to have iPad versions. Along with a weather & stock widget for iPad. Better Newstand (ability to have the icons on your homescreen, rather than an ugly NewsStand app. Also the ability to show your iBooks in your Newsstand. Renaming it "iShelf" or something.
