Meh, I saw pages, keynote, and numbers on the iPad two days ago. It will be hard to beat the simplicity of Apple's own apps, not to mention the price. The Office Suite for Windows and Mac is way overpriced. Hopefully they keep it reasonable.

Hopefully because it's a mobile version it will be priced less.

It will be interesting, though, to find out how Microsoft will get around Apple's not allowing the user to view their file system. Maybe by integrating a cloud service?

I can't wait for someone to jump out and start porting Windows 8 to iPad.

You already know, that won't happen.

Probably not, but...there's an ARM based Windows 8, so ya never know ;)

But the ARM version (Windows RT) will only come preinstalled on the specific tablets which use the ARM version. So, I see no possibility that it will be ported to iPad.

As for Office for iOS, I will probably switch when it's available; I only use the iWork suite because it's the current best Office-like suite for iPad.
The PC beta version of Office 2013 has the a setting to save your document(s) to Skydrive by default, with the option to save your document(s) on your hard drive. So, perhaps there'll be some similar functionality in the mobile version. (Using a fixed location, similar to iBooks' location for the actual ebooks in the file system, to get around the whole viewing the file system.) And, yes, I too hope that it priced more toward the price (if not cheaper) of the three iWork apps.

I love how Apple sits back and lets Microsoft develop an office suite program for their operating systems. I don't ever see Apple making their own. It's been this way forever. And I doubt we'll see a change. You'd think they'd want their own stand alone programs.

    I just don't like them.
