I just installed extended preferences and saw that it has a numeric wifi. It seems to work but i put my ipod right next to the router and it read it as a "36". However if i switch back it says i have full bars. Is the number in Mbps or is not that accurate?

Here's the deal--the iPod and iPhone don't read signal strength in percentage, but in 3 numbers. These numbers are 18, 36, and 54 (and of course, 0). 18 could be anywhere from 0-33.3%, 36 is anywhere from 33.3% to 66.6%, and 54 is anywhere from 66.6% to 100%. It's stupid. I know.

I get 11 right by my router, and 54 outside in my truck. Not sure how that happens.
