Appertently a common iPod Touch and iPhone jailbroken feature has been added to the 3GS. The feature is....Wait drum roll please....

Numeric Battery! You can enable through

Setting>General>Usage>Battery percentage turn it to on.

Plz note I am pretty sure this is for the 3GS ONLY.

It's not iPhone 3G only. Go to /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app/ and grab your M86AP.plist
Modify the capabilities dictionary by adding the boolean "gas-gauge-battery" with the value set to 1 or true. Go back and check the usage tab again. I love this feature.

To be honest, Apple tried doing this with all iPhone builds, but it the battery gauge never worked properly on the iPhone and iPhone 3G for some unknown reason. They could easily add this in their next software release; iPhone 3.1. So it goes without saying, you can enable this feature, yes, but it will not accurately display the battery meter.

I know that this feature is for the jailbroken iPods but is there any way the numeric battery can be activated on the non-jailbroken ones (whether or not it can be displayed properly is another story!)?

It looks very cool and is similar to the one on Sony CLIEs some time back...
