Alright. iTunes 9 is being the biggest douche it can ever be. I just got a new 32GB 3rd Gen iPod touch today for my birthday and iTunes wants to be a big dick and not restore it. First, when I plugged it in, it said it couldn't be synced because an unknown file was missing. Then, I tried restoring it to see if it would fix it, and it gives me a 1602 error all the time. I had this problem with my 1st gen for the longest time now. I can't restore anymore.

Reinstall iTunes? Different computer? DFU mode?
iTunes cannot be "the biggest douche it can ever be". You are doing something wrong, or you have something wrong with your computer.

Wow, I reinstalled everything, and it still doesn't recognize it.

I tried the USB cable it came with. My computer doesn't have internet upstairs. I'll try different uSB port.

Same things happened to me, the only way I was able to restore was using my uncles computer. Worked like a charm.

He didn't have internet either, so I put everything I needed on a CD and took it to his house.

    Okay.

But wait, doesn't it give you an error saying that it's unable to verify with the server because there is no connection?
