    Hi guys.

I've searched this forum and many others but every possibility to fix my problem doesn't work.
I've got an iPod touch 2G and I've tried to jailbreak it with "QuickFreedom" after watching/reading some tutorials.
Before i started the programm, i backup my iPod with iTunes and downloaded an new 2.2.1 fw from an non-apple mirror.
Ok, ready to go. Following the instructions of QuickFreedom, I've set my iPod into DFU, build a costum FW(installer, don't changed logos) and the programm applied the redsn0w patch.
Ok. Then, opened iTunes and tried to sync the patched firmware via SHIFT+"Restore" and selecting the file.
    Error 1603.
Ok, I changed USB Port and tried again..and again... No chance, only the 160x Messages.

Restore the iPod with an orginal Firmware (eqal if 2.2.1 oder 2.1.1) doesn't works.

I followed the guide wit the irecovery.exe and the CMD line, but no success. I also tried the redTool and alternativ Jailbreakmethods.
The Pod only shows the Recovery Screen or I enter the DFU Mod.

    Other ideas?
You're my last chance, or Iäve got an extra-ordinary decoration for my room...

160X errors mean that the redsn0w patches weren't applied or they weren't applied correctly.
Enter DFU mode and SHIFT-Click to find the custom firmware AFTER you patched the iPod.

if you want to REDO your jailbreak.
They say you need to connect to a pc/mac never which connected to before.
I never believed until i got stuck into DFU mode.
Luckally i've got a friend who has a mac. he's great with everything from apple.
So if you got someone like that...

lolol. dfu + restore. Then download the redsnow official beta 0.3. Its REALLY easy. it modifies the firmware right on the ipod, you dont even need a restore.

hey! try this. i can easily restore now with peace.

Option One is to reset ur env so that it can boot properly.
Option Two is the fix for 160x errors and restores properly.

Stuck In Recovery Mode Fix (option 1)

    clearenv 1
    setenv auto-boot true
    saveenv
    fsboot
    reboot

    Fix error 1604 (option 2)

    Connect ipod touch to computer.
make sure all instances of itunes related is closed. (better to restart computer)
Put to DFU Mode and open up itunes ( it should say ipod is in recovery )
do a shift+restore to firmware of choice, (i did this from 2.1.1 to 2.2.1)
wait until ipod touch turns to white ( Preparing to Restore )
then CTRL+Alt+Delete (open up task manager)
Close off Itunes.exe and IpodService.exe (itunes should close while ipod is still in recovery)
Quickly Switch USB Port of Ipod Touch to other port.
Open up itunes ( it should say ipod is in recovery )
then now do a Shift+Restore again and it should work.

It should work with Jailbroken firmware also. =) goodluck

yeah.. umm thats a lot more work than is really necesarry.. as stated only once surprisingly... is to DFU+Restore to 2.2.1, and then get redsn0w .3 beta.. its so much easier and faster... no restore is required... all of your steps are unnecessary and a hastle..

As I said before, entering the DFU Mode and restore the Original FW doesn't works.
redsn0w also did not work. The Programm quits and the iPod shows "Downloading Jealbreaking Data" and shutdwon after 3-4 miuntes.

well that sucks...if ur ipod isn't showing any signs of being jailbroken.. or even working for that matter... you should take it back to apple... or... you may have to do all of those long and tedious steps... u might have to.. and then use redsn0w.. and the program should quit after its done and the ipod says ''Downloading Jailbreak Data". redsn0w on the computer should close, and your ipod should say Downloading Jailbreak data, and it should stay like that for a while... keep your ipod plugged into the computer... but.. the reason why its closing.. is cause u dont have a fw on the ipod... its blank rite now... so u can't go to the springboard, or anything..
