The features for 3.0 firmware state:

Never leave a note behind. Now you can sync all the notes you write on your iphone back to your mac or pc.

I can't backup my notepad. It shows beside notes in iTunes:

"No supported notes application can be found"

What's going on? Is there something I'm missing? My ipod clearly shows in the settings that I have 3.0 (7a341). My bank account shows I did pay for it. Any ideas?

iTunes syncs the notes you write in the Notes application that comes bundled with 3.0. They should be in Mail.

I know I'm being annoying...sorry. I don't see it. I even did a search for some of the words in notepad and nothing showed up. To avoid confusion ...since there is a notepad on both devices...I'm trying to take the notes on the ipod and save them on my computer.

This way, when I want to buy a new ipod, I can transfer it to the new one. And I will have a copy of the notes that are on the ipod saved onto my computer in case I accidently delete anything in the ipod....

But I also would like to be able to make changes and sync it back to the ipod. But, this isn't really what I'm asking about right now. I just want my notes saved to the computer, and I don't see it.

If so, you're barking up the wrong tree entirely.

When you write a note in the Notes.app on your iPhone/iPod, iTunes will sync it to your notes is either Mail (OS X) or Outlook (Windows).
You can't sync Notepad.exe notes with notes on an iPhone/iPod, short of copy & pasting them into Mail/Outlook.

It's not even doing that. The only way I can see doing this is actually emailing my notes to me. This was the reason I upgraded to 3.0 and now I regret it.

Notes can usually sync without any problems at all to Outlook, for us Windows users...

To check whether it is enabled, here are some step-by-step tips:
    1. Connect the iPod with the PC for syncing.
    2. Click on the "Devices" and then select "Info".
    3. Scroll down until you see "Notes".
    4. Tick "Notes" and ensure that it is synced with Outlook.

Try the above method and see if your Notes can be synced or not ya... Hope that helps!
