I've tried so many different things, and it won't work.
The problem: Whenever I plug my iPod jack into anything, it's not nearly loud enough. I can barely hear it with my computer's speakers, 2 of my earbud sets, a pair of on-ear headphones, and my portable iHome speakers.

    It's from a 1-3, and I want it up to about 7.

What causes this? I don't want to have to unjialbreak and take it into the Apple Store, or open it up (I have no idea how the hell that would work on a 2G, since it's curved and the chrome back goes all the way to the front) What do I need to do to fix it? I've even tried changing the volume of the songs in iTunes, and fully rebooting my iPod.

I'm on the untethered jailbreak, if that's important.

Did you try the volume limit in setting? Go to setting, music, and check to see if volume limit is on. If it is then click on it and slide the volume bar all the way up. That will disable it.
