I'll describe the events that led up to something annoying.
    - I hooked my ipod up
    - Opened iTunes

From there, it brought up the thing where I could restore it from a backup or set up a new ipod - I just restored it because I didn't know what to do. I didn't lose anything of course, but now everything except for apps are counted as "other" so I have 1.02gb of apps, 12.76gb of other, and 770.9mb of free space.
Does anyone know why it did that/does this? I know it's not a huge deal, but it's annoying to me and google gave me results like "whats DFU mode?"

I just discovered that my music is missing but its still taking up the space - I'll just restore it unless someone has a better idea.
