Noob question for tethered and untethered

    Could someone please explain to me what the difference between tethered and untethered is? I have a jailbroken ipod touch and its tethered but i guess theres a untethered version now? Whats the difference?

    The difference is that you don't have to run the rs commands if you do a reboot. With the untethered you can reboot at will like in the days prior to this firmware.

    with tethered i assume you know that you can't shut down your touch
    with untethered you CAN shut it down

    You shut down with both..
    You just can't boot up as easily with tethered..
    Untetherd is all you should think about, forget about tethered :/

    tethered is when you have to sync and download the jailbreaking tools back on to the ipod after you have shut it down.
    untethered is the exact opposite, none of the syncing stuff.
    untethered is the way to go.

    is there any way to switch to untethered after you have jailbroken the tethered way?

    Yes, and it's actually makes it easier.

    Yes, I just did it and it took like 5 minutes to flash the NOR chip without any restoring/use of Itunes. Music/videos/photos/Appstore games-apps/Cydia games-apps all remain intact.
