I often don't have internet access.

I read somewhere that it is possible to set up a PC laptop with a wifi router to interface with my 3G iTouch. Basically I am looking for file transfer (txt, htm, etc) without jailbreaking.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know of any tutorials?

You can create an Ad-Hoc Network, and ssh with it!

That's only if your jailbroken. If your talking about getting your music off it then that's a whole different story.

Man am i getting sick of this apple jail.

Sure - images, sounds, vids are fine but @#$@$%^!! what's wrong with a few txt, htm, doc, etc. files. WHY..... won't they let me shift via USB and view OFF LINE?

That's about all I want so I am not that fussed about getting all the benefits of breaking. But...... if I can't even wifi locally there may be no choice.

    Any other suggests?

    thanks guys

    Very possible.

Look up diskaid, it lets you transfer files using a ipod 3g without jailbreaking, although you can ONLY transfer files that you put on it using diskaid, as you have no root access.

    Transfer? Yes.
Get anything that you don't put on there using the program? No.

Use Files Lite (or Files) from the App Store! It has file transfer via a web browser, and reads almost any file type! I use it all the time! ^_^

I have diskaid - (also iphoneFolders which integrates with file explorer)

Is there an 'official' apple app that will read the folders created by diskaid? (and a few file types) Free or paid is no matter. Or do the official apps only read the root?

really think apple will let you do that? look at how much apple has done to limit what we can do.
