The Fire accounts for over 50% of the Android Tablet market. People do want the Fire, they just want iPad.
Exactly. It is useless. The UI is horrible (oh here comes the opinions, has no home button as such, is slow, and cannot download apps from the Android Market (which may be good... viruses) Just get an Android tablet and install the Kindle app on it.
Totally correct. If people want to compete IMO, they can't just reinvent the computer. They have to reinvent the stuff listed above. Totally possible, but with the executive boards of these companies, it would be hard to convince them to completely revamp the companies' established systems.
The Kindle fire was a short lived iPad competitor. The HP Envy is a FAIL copy of the MBPro 13". The Zenbooks are pretty nice (I must admit), but adhere very much to the EXACT design of the MBAir. The all-in-one desktops don't even compare to the iMacs: cosmetically (most are very, very, VERY ugly), hardware (overpriced for what they have in them), build quality (plastic? Seriously??). Anyways. It's hard to reinvent what is already a premium product, without EXACTLY copying it.
Just bought one last week for my wife. I have the New Ipad, but she wouldn't use on like I do. She loves to read and browse the web. It's perfect for that. I agree the UI is slower, but to read, it is nicer than my Ipad since it is not as heavy and it's easier for her to put it in her purse.
