I've heard a few reports of iPhone 3G users wifi not working after an upgrade to iOS 4. Have you tried restoring in iTunes again?

Somethings happened to the wifi chip. You'll have to send it back. Sorry mate

it's a physical problem, not to do with the firmware.

I know this is basic, but have you tried restarting the phone? This happened with my iPod and a restart fixed it. If that doesn't do it, restore to an official (4.0.1) firmware. If it's still not fixed, bring it to Apple.

this happened to me i was almost convinced that it was a software problem but its not, you have to reflow the wifi chip in your iphone

FIRST try to reset network settings.

if that fails then your iphone haz fail

    to fix that

    take the motherboard out
preheat OVEN to 280 degrees/385 Fahrenheit
place motherboard in oven for 7-8 mins

there is proof that this works, search for "reflow iphone" in google

Don't open up your iPhone and put the logicboard in the oven... Bring it to the Apple Store. But do attempt a restore and restart (not in that order) before bringing it there... My sig has steps to teach you how to determine if the problem is a hardware problem. Just follow the Rs
