does anyone know what is holding up the dev team from bringing us news? is it simply because they have no news? or are they working on other things at the moment that i am unaware of?

It really comes down to the fact they have lives and they are doing this all for free, they may have abandoned the project, who knows, they may pick it up in a week, a month, or a year. They are most likely focusing on 3.0, redsn0w, or just their own lives.

    But I am excited too

This. It was more of a "proof of concept" type thing.

Just like DSLinux. They got it working to prove that it could, then the project basically died. You ended up with a basic command line, and a few working commands, and that was it.

Back when I was looking into Linux for DS, there was all kinds of talk of GUI's, features, and future plans. As far as I know, nothing ever came from it. Unfortunately, I expect the case to be the same with iPod Touch Linux.

    :/ yeah.
With the 3G unlock and then the soontobe 3GS unlock looks like the Dev Teams hands are full.
I'm happy they figured how to Jailbreak the ipt2g before the project was scrapped. ><

The team is split up into different areas.

MuscleNerd is the guy who does the unlocking, along with bugout, and sometimes CPICH (if i remember correctly).

Planetbeing is the guy who started the iPhoneLinux project.

I think Planetbeing was/is counting on comunity support at this point. It's pretty much up to the iphone and linux comunity to take it further.
