My iPhone doesn't have any signal bars when on 3G, but when It's on EDGE it works just fine.

Ive tried restoring, and It's not jailbroken either, how come I cant use 3G

EDIT: My friend also has an iPhone, she lives in the same place as I do, and we also have the same sim and her 3G works fine.

I would try comparing field test results between the two phones. Dial *3001#12345#* to access the application. See what comes up. You may need to bring your phone to AT&T or Apple for a replacement due to a bad 3G radio.

I have the same problem. It doesn't show any signal bars, but you should be able to receive calls and texts with no problem. I have no signal problems ever. Only difference is, is that it just doesn't show the bars :/.

Also, I've unlocked mine, it wasn't actually meant for the sim card that I have in it. That may have something to do with it, I don't know.

Do you have problems getting calls/texts at all?

I can't make or get any calls on 3g.

Lets say if I switch back to EDGE while my sim is popped in it doesnt work either.

Only works if It's set to EDGE when I pop it in.

    Any suggestions?

Hmm, I don't know enough about this kind of stuff to advice you on the matter, unfortunately. Sorry bro!

    EDIT:

Did you unlock the iPhone? Or did you get the iPhone with your contract from your carrier?

He's saying WHEN he switches it on, the signal bars go down. He knows how to turn it on, but once he turns it on, everything fails, lol.

Sometimes the simplest things throw us off, when i am in a 3G area i can have 1 bar to full bar, just depends.
