My Ipod Touch 2g used to have sound (although weak) without earphones, but all of a sudden it quit working and the only way you can hear sound is if you have the earphones plugged in or the ipod on a docking station with speakers. I checked the settings and the sound looks to be turned on and volume up load, but no built-in speaker sound. Has anyone else run into this problem? My Ipod is only about 2 months old.

    Maybe it's a 1G.

JK. Is it damaged in any way or do you remember dropping it or anything?

hmm when you say a weak sound. do you mean you could hear music from it or just beeps etc.

If its beeps you have a 1G Touch
