I find it weird that with all these myriad apps there's no single email application(pop, imap, web) ? Is my Ipod Touch suppose to have one out of the box ? I don't see it and I updated to the latest version.

    Thanks for any info

well... i CAN tell you that most do.
if your ipod has the stocks app but not the email app, something is wrong with it

when you upgrade to 2.0, apple's mobile email app should be there.

Seriously ? I've been updating from 1.1.2 and did a recovery each time. My ipod was factory default/stock/non hacked straight from the firmware that got downloaded. And for all that time I haven't seen the mail app.

It's the 16g Ipod Touch version, does that matter ?

Before jailbreaking all I got was:
    Safari
    Calender
    Contacts
    YouTube
    Clock
    Calculator
    Settings

Are you absolutely sure that ALL ipod touch has mail out of the box ?

no... just the later firmwares. you either have the firmware that's got a full dock with 7 other apps (no mail) or the firmware with a full dock with 12 other apps (has mail)

wow apparently 1.1.4 has all the iphone apps (mail, maps, etc) preinstalled. I WinSCP in and saw all the folders in Applications (I was installing some themes when I saw this).

Only thing is that apparently they're hidden. And so far I understand that it's because N45AP.plist is hiding them.

Maybe someone can give me a clue how to proceed. I know screwing around N45AP.plist can mess up the ipod.

I tried running them in SSH with ./<appname> and they all work...

    ./MobileMail
    ./Maps

Runs, not sure if Mail works but maps is pretty cool. Google Earth with nice touch interface.

I just can't get the icons to show up

I tried Poof, Categorize (it shows up here but when I tap any of the 'hidden apps' (mail, maps, stocks), they just crashed/closed, which is weird since running them on SSH works!).

    HELPP....
