i bought an ipod touch recently online and recieved it yesterday.
when i on it initially, the backlight was flickering abit. after a while, the backlight died. i tried to adjust the brightness but there is still no backlight.
i read through the forum and i can't find anyone with a similar problem. i tried reoning it, restoring it and resetting it but to no avail. the screen is hardly visible unless tilted at a correct angle to the light to hit the screen.
wonder if someone can help me with this issue.

Definitely a hardware problem, especially because of the flickering.
    Return it ASAP.

yeah, it's a hardware issue. i had this with my 2nd 1G iPod touch and they replaced it at the Apple store.

    me too

mine is almost like yours, the screen flickers constantly and when i plug it in to my computer and the back-light goes into sleep mode (if its supposed to) and i press the screen or the home button the back-light completely dies until I shut it down completely for a couple of minutes.

it doesnt matter where you buy your ipod. you dont even need a recipt. just go to the apple store and they will replace it. i have had ipods replaced many times. once i bought a used 1st gen touch off craigslist and it had a bad pixel. i went to the apple store and they replaced it no questions asked.
