    - New portable hardware

    - Uses 3D without the need for glasses
    - Backwards compatible with DS, DSi
    - Release before March 2011
    - Analog stick
    - Vibration
    - Tilt sensor
    - Superior wireless capability
    - Better battery life

This is official. The press release is on Nintendo's server. Pretty surprising really, I'm very interested to see how this pans out...

I've JUST on Saturday bought a DSi XL, to be honest 3D still seems like a bit of a gimmick. I'm not going for it because I don't think I'd like 3D games, the only thing that may persuade me is if Pokemon bring out a game for it.. now that'd be exciting.

This is how 3D is currently implemented on the DSI using the camera and head tracking.

People said dual screens and touch were gimmicks for the Nintendo DS and it's now the second best selling games console of all time after the PS2.

This isn't a DS upgrade like the DSi and DSi XL with a 3D addition, this is Nintendo's next proper handheld sequel. Talk from GDC suggest graphics comparable to the Gamecube.

Got my DSi on launch date, so by the time this comes out it might be Xmas... I'll probably get it, as long as it's backwards compatible. At least it adds something... the XL is a massive gimmick... bigger than adding 3D capabilities... Imagine the next Pokemon game in proper 3D?! Not the current 3D engine: A proper 3D experience.

My guesses are it won't be "Proper 3D" though, it'll do what that DSiWare game does, and change perspective based on where the users eyes are located via the camera.

Like you said, it'll be christmas... depends if there's anything else I'll need by then.

This is why Nintendo are the king of marketing, even more so then apple. They create something,in this case the Nintendo DS,and add countless things to it,adding many new features one by one,and then all of a sudden bring this new console out that renders most of the older iterations useless to most tech heads, and so the story continues.

I don,t hate it,I actually admire it.A quality every company should have.

I'm quite excited about this,I want to see how Nintendo design this,it could be quite interesting...

    3d psp anyone?

now, all we need is a console in which you can ACTUALLY go into the game lol.
