Probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyways... With os 3.0 on my 2g touch, will I still need the nike+ipod kit to use the nike plus tracking feature? Or will the ability to use that be built into the operating system? I already have a pair of nike shoes with the sensor in it... I just don't have the little dongle you plug into the ipod.

    Thanks.

It's software, not hardware, so yes

you should be able to use it without the dock. the hardware itself is built-in to your ipod, so you won't need to use the dongle. And Apple already put the software for it on 2.1.1, 2.2, and 2.2.1, so Firmware 3.0 is guaranteed to have it.

Wait, so are you saying with fw 2.2.1 (which I have) that I don't need the little dongle thing?

Thats was the whole point of adding it to the 2g, it didn't need the dongle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they are adding that feature to the rest of the models (minus the iPod Touch 1G of course) in 3.0.
  8. does anybody know anything about adding this feature? Will the ipod touch 1g support the
nike adapter in the next firmware version?

It will only ever work without the adapter, if the iPod has built in bluetooth. Which the 1g doesn't.
  10. ?

why only without the adapter? Why can't the 1G support the adapter? Isn't it only a bit programming for apple to support it?

if i remember correctly os 3.0 will support third party's dockconnector devices, maybe a hint?
