...And lets just ignore this rumor because it was provided by the least credible website ever.

iOS doesn't need that much power.

I think these are meant to be "Let's have a discussion about how this rumor (if it were to come true) would affect our lives and the way we use technology" kinds of posts. Obviously you should take most rumors, regardless of the source, with a grain of salt.

Anyhow, I do believe that having quad-core processors would be a big step forward for the iDevice platform and would allow it to do things that would otherwise be less possible. Seamless actual multitasking, faster graphics, etc.

It'll prolly just get the A5X...which is good enough. It's got some powerful quad core graphics, which is more than enough for iOS.

Yeah it mightn't need it but i think they should have it in. I mean, the iPhone is expensive and it needs to outlast a year of new phones being released.. food for thought.

    of apple?

To everyone saying it doesn't need it, we all know you'll be more than happy when apple announces it.

Do we REALLY need a quad core procesor in our phones? I mean, seriously. Is it neaisary to have 4 cores in our phones when the iPhone 4 only has one and runs perfectly...? The 4s hassnt made much of an improvement in speed compared with the 4. I think we should be aiming for higher dual core clocks than adding add 2 battery hungry cores at 800ghz and just up the clock (I know it's not that simple) to say 1.2 hey why not, 1.5 ghz in the 2 existing cores. And hell, optimise everything to high heaven, add a bigger battery, whatever. I just dont think we will see any big improvents in anything by adding an extra 2 cores. IOS just ain't that demanding. Just make sure to throw in some ALOT of extra ram!
