The latest version of iTunes is out now but does this mean apple are getting ready to release the new iphone firmware 3.0 at the WWDC this june?

Probably, but they are still at beta 5 which doesn't make any sense. They also still have major problems with push services on 3.0 beta too.

It could be for a new iphone but probably just bug fixes.

I doubt its for a new firmware because remember last year when 2.0 was released i think an itunes update was released on the same day, so i assume another itunes update will be released on the day 3.0 is released?
  4. They said in the update notes or something like that, it adds support for firmware 3.0. So yea.

I believe that 8.2 is specifically for the release of 3.0. Why? Because the Dev Team says it changes the access protocol stuff, probably to support the next iPhone, and better support 3.0 firmware.
