After learning from the last few months of enforcing the new rules, I have updated the user infraction levels, point values, and banning thresholds. The main goal was to make us (the staff) less reluctant to mete out punishments by making the point values better reflect the severity of the offense. I also made it so that each offense has two levels of severity, which gives us more leeway to give points based on the specifics of the actual situation at hand. Here are the new settings:

To sum things up, individual offenses will be punished much more lightly than before, but we will be less generous in overlooking offenses and will be giving fewer warnings.

Also note that "Misleading help to users" will now be infracted, so those of you that answer every problem with "just restore" may find yourselves in some trouble if you don't stop.

Overall, we expect that these changes will not affect the majority of users, other than making the forum a more enjoyable place to be.

but what i dont like is this:
OBVIOUSLY, these new rules are directed towards certain users.

I highly disagree with this part, for reasons that I cannot voice.

Well of course they are directed to a small part of users. Look, if you want to say restore but you are not sure say something like this:

bgizzle, I just need confirmation before I proceed into the rest of the conversation that this is on topic and not off.

Anyway to add to the conversation:

It is not cool to always tell someone to restore. At lease tell them alternate ways.

    yes.

    one is me.

and on a side note, i now feel hated and biased against on this site, and my presence may not last much longer.

    BUT ON TOPIC:

i think these new "levels" WILL help a lot. Thanks bgizzle

I kinda disagree man. Like I used to post recklessly, but not since people kept protesting it I just mix fun with good posts. So like instead of saying restore for everything and posting off topic all of the time, if I can I try to help a few people. I am not saying you do this; I am just giving an example.

    Just adding my two cents.
