Hey guys, I bought my 2nd Gen iPod Touch last summer, and I have been patiently waiting for a jailbreak. One of my friends has a first gen, and has it jailbroken, and I would like to do the same with mine, but I am having some troubling on how to do it. First off, I have some questions:

    1. What is the difference between tethered, semi-tethered, and untethered? (Which one would be the easiest to do, and is there a difference in the capabilities of the iPod after the jailbreak)
    2. Is redsn0w the best jailbreak to use?
    3. About how long will it take me to jailbreak my iPod Touch?

I really appreciate you guys helping me, thanks in advance.

1.Use "Run Rs" its the newest and best method
    2. isnt a jailbreak its the patch used to boot your ipod
    3. it should take about 15 mins

Use Cyw00d's gui then do the "run rs" thing

1- tethered= Every time you turn off you ipod, you can turn it on unless you hooked up to a computer with a booter.
simi-tether= Every time you turn off you iPod, you can turn it on, but it wont have it jailbroken.
Untethered= Turn on/off without any problems as much as you want

2-Well there's different GUI's out here, so just look around.

3-Depends how smart you are. And which program you use.

Wait, so I won't be able to use my jailbroken iPod Touch (for the games, etc.) unless I just turned it on using my computer, since as far as I know, the untethered isn't released yet?

Tethered means each time you turn it off, meaning completely off, not in sleep mode, you have to connect to a computer to start up. Semi-tehtered means if you turn it off, you can turn it back on with out the computer but you can't use your jailbroken apps until you boot with a computer. I hear that that version is pretty buggy. Untethered means it will be 100% jailbroken.

redsn0w is the codename of the jailbreak. Not a specific kind.

About 20-25 mins if you use cyw00d's GUI. From what I hear it's at least 4-5 hours if you do it manually.

Oh, sorry about the post I just posted lol, you just explained it a lot more. How do you turn on sleep mode, just let the iPod sit until the screen goes black?

By pressing the button on the top. That puts it in sleep mode.

So then, there really isn't any problems with using the tethered version? How would you turn the iPod off?

Yeah, that's sleep mode, when it's locked.

And yeah, use cyw00d's, then re-restore and use the run rs method after you're jailbroken.

You just hold the lock button until it says slide to turn off, then you have to turn it back on with a booter, or run rs.
