Hi, i have a ipod touch 8gb and i use it alot for work becouse of the wireless and stuff. But i just cant get the right apps. I have read up a bit about jailbreaking and it sounds cool. I tried it but failed. Here are a few question

    1. is it worth jailbreaking an 8gig? (app sizes etc)
    2. how stable is the firmware? will it crash constantly
    3. will default apps work correctly like app store, safari, email etc, etc. (ITUNES)
    4. is it easy to jailbreak. I am quite technical.
    5. what is the best jailbreaking software to use?

i am after apps like command promp for pinging local and external ips etc. and just other cool apps, the app store doesnt really offer many!

    Please help, Cheers in advance!

    1. It is totally worth it, once you jailbreak there is no going back, there are so many useful apps i dont know where to begin

    2. Solid rock stable, i haven had any issue (just don't fill your ipod with crap that would slow it down)

    3.
All the default apps will work flawlessly, perfectly

    4.
Since you have a 3g 8gb ipod you should try jail breaking with blackra1n (all you have to do is click a button)

    5.
both redsno0w and balckra1n are very good ones

    Important notes
-Since you have an 3g 8gb ipod aka(late 2g mc model) you must be in firmware 3.1.2 to jailbreak .
    - Your device will have a tethered jailbreak: which means you have to re run the jailbreak program every time you reboot your ipod

    Thnaks for the replies.

yea i have just jailbroken with blackra1n.. EASY!!

all went well... just when trying to download cydia and rock they keep failing due to "no internet connection" this is about half way through

I have DSL with a download speed of about 9kbs HAHA
    could this be it?

also, are all programs on cydia and rock FREE?

    CHEERS

Ummmm....... You can jailbreak by redsnow, or try downloading one at a time. Not all of the programs are free, you have to pay for some.

ok all works fine i think.. a few more little questions

    1. are cydia apps added to homescreen or do i need to open cydia each time?
    2. can i still sync with itunes as normal and everything else is as it was before?
    3. theres like 20 apps. where are all the apps? do i have to install packages?
    4. how does payment work? credit card im guessing and how safe is it?

    sorry for all the questions

    cheers

downloading cydia apps is just like downloading from the app store, they will appear on the spring board, most apps do

defintely jailbreak. whats the point of restricting your OWN property? if you jailbreak, you can get a whole world of tweaks and addons for your ipod. use spirit to jailbreak, it works for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 untethered. with jailbreaking, you can do so much more.

    Update for you, Onlinegamesnz
Restore to firmware 3.1.3 (DFU Recommended, doesn't matter)
    Jailbreak with Spirit at spiritjb.com
Windows you have to set compatibility to windows 95 and run as administrator.
    Simple as blackra1n but untethered.
