I have an iPod touch 2nd Generation. I have done some research and have learned a lot of the features on my iPod. I just recently updated to 3.0 firmware.

I am really interested on learning how to jailbreak my iPod and what new features it will give me. I see quite a few interesting themes that would nice to have. I am a Blackberry user and I love to customize things.

I know that jailbreaking voids your warranty and that makes me skeptical on if I should do it.

Can anyone give me the steps on how to do so? Or where to find them? And what new benefits it will give me.

check the firmware 3.0 jailbreak section for a tutorial, as for benefits, there are loads, just check the themes and customization section for themes, jailbroken applications section for apps exclusive to jailbroken users. And finally, look for info about jailbreaking on my trusted friend...

    The possibilities are endless.

    1) Themes
    2) FontSwap (change your font)
    3) MxTube (save YouTube videos when youre on wi-fi for offline use)
    4) anything you want.

Sure, you can make your iPod go into recovery mode (DFU) and restore it to it's factory settings (though you will lose your items on your ipod if you don't back it up).

It just lets your iPod do stuff that apple normally won't allow

Mostly customization and tweaks (battery percentage by the battery image on the top right of your iPt)

example, you can make it look like this:
