I've just purchased my first IPod, a 2G I Pod Touch. One of the reasons I purchased it was to use it as a language translator on my upcoming trip to Italy. I've downloaded 2 of the "free" language translators, but it appears I must be connected to WiFi to use them. Does anyone know of a really good translation (Italian) software that can be downloaded onto my iPod and accessed without a connection.

I am technically challenged, so I apologize if this question seems rudimentary.

See if you can find some ebooks or .pdf's that are transation handbooks, or even doc format as Airshare should be able to read those...

Welcome to iPod touch Fans! Have you tried searching for translator in the App Store search? I'm sure there's plenty of alternatives that don't require a Wi-Fi connection.
