I just bought a 32G iPod touch, with 1.1.3 Firmware.

Now when i try to restore to 1.1.1, it says "iPod cannot be restored, error (1)".

    ....WTF?!

    I previously had a 16GB and JB'ed it fine.

Did you put it into DFU mode?

That goes for any iPod, not just the 32 gigabyte version.

There is a very easy solution though, simply force it into recovery mode and the try to restore it to 1.1.1.

If you don't know how, then do this:

Plug your iPod into the computer, and open up iTunes, make sure to wait until iTunes detects the iPod. Next, hold down the sleep and home button until you see the iPod disappear off of iTunes, when this happens stop pressing the sleep button, but KEEP pressing the home button until it is visible in iTunes again. It should now be in recovery mode.

I forgot why this error occurs, it's either the latest version of iTunes that does this, firmware 1.1.3, or both.

wow a 32gb ipod...i wish i had the money for one of those. do you have a mac? might try Ziphone where you can do it from a 1.1.3 firmware. Although the 16gb was having problems, so i imagine the 32gb could have the same problems. Worth a try tho!

you have to make sure you force restore the correct way because, yes there are multiple ways to force restore. if an itunes screeen is on your ipod when it restore mode than you did it wrong.

    1.plug ipod in.
2.hold down sleep and home button for 10, count em, 10 seconds exaclty.
    3. let go of sleep after those 10 seconds.
    4. computer should recogize ipod and screeen should be black.
    5. downgrade like normal

    happy jailbreaking and good luck!

i think as long as you follow the above instructions, you'll be fine. no way apple would disable the restore function on your ipod because it will affect all the non jailbreakers as well.

i put it into recovery mode but it wants to automatically update it to 1.1.3, what do I do?

P.S: I have iTunes 7.6, maybe I need older version?

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out, your have to hold shift while pressing restore.

Yeah you can downgrade to 1.1.1 using iTunes 7.6. But remember, iTunes 7.6 breaks oktoprep, which means it breaks the Jailbreak from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2. So, unless you plan on staying with version 1.1.1, you need to downgrade iTunes to 7.5.
