I have a few questions that have come up when I got my new iPod touch. Say I want to put it to sleep, do I simply push the sleep/wake button and that's it? how come I can still listen to music when it is in "sleep" mode? Is wifi still on when it's in sleep mode? I've looked everywhere but I get confused between sleep and lock screen mode. Finally they say to hold the home button for about ten seconds to quit apps rather than "minimize" them but when I do it I don't see any confirmation that it actually worked.

    Thanks again

Yes, click that. You just can. Don't think so.It's the same. No difference if you're unjailbroken.

I am pretty sure the Wifi is still on in sleep mode, because I still get emails from push notification. Not sure.

    Yes.

You're putting the display to sleep as well as non-essential components.

    No.

Your iPod is in sleep mode when your display is turned off. Your iPod is in lock screen mode when you can see the screen that says "Slide to Unlock" and you see either a picture or battery icon.

Your confirmation is when the iPod goes back to the home screen.

Only mail, I believe, does this. If you try downloading files from webpages and putting it to sleep, your download will stop and you'll have to re-download. So no, it isn't on in sleep mode. That's why Insomnia wins!
