I have no incentive to tell you guys about this. I am just being altruistic. You can insure your new iPod Touch from theft and any accidents for 3 years at only $70 with Safeware (select tablet, and Individual). Way better than AppleCare.

It's really worth doing. You never know when you are going to need it.

I would never trust 3rd party companies for this sort of thing. You never know when they decide to close their doors and pocket your money,

Pay with a credit card and you're fully protected. You won't get the money to replace the iPod, but you should get your insurance fees back.

This business has been open for years. My friend got his laptop replaced through Safeware. Also, who are you going to trust for house or car insurance? They are all third-parties that can close down.

How can you prove that your device is stolen?

I guess they would require you to file a police report. I mean, it would be pretty fraudulent to fake theft and even then fake a police report.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but I contacted Safeware to verify whether they cover iPod Touches or not (I already insured my laptop with Safeware, so might as well ask). The agent told me that they do not cover iPod Touches and most definitely not under the "tablets" category.

Might have to look for another insurer for your device.

Just wanted to post this so people do not make that mistake!
