I have a brand new iPod touch 2G that I got from buying a Mac two months ago that I want to sell for an iPod touch 4G. What is the suggested price i should sell it?

(This is brand new, no scratches on the back, screen is very clean, still have the case and the accessories.)

Well once the box opens the value does go down, and even if its in like new condition, why would you pay $230 for a older second gen in like new condition when you can get a brand new one for the same price.

I got it for "free" when i got my MacBook, so I couldn't refuse the offer. I asked if I can wait 'til the 4G iPod touch to come out to get a new iPod but they said the offer only works when you buy the Mac the same day.

If you have barely used it [ I mean barely, like used it only once to 5 times .. ].. You could probably get around $170 for it.

I think $170 is pushing it. Even though it's brand new, it's still an old model and it's only 8gb. I say $140, probably less.

$140 is what 3rd gen 8gb are going for. Personally I'd be surprised if you got more than $80 out of it, and that's even if you find someone willing to buy it.

Well, since he said he got it 2 months ago from Apple, I'm assuming it's the '3G'/2G 8gb

...Its the same thing he's just giving it the correct gen number which is 2nd, 3rd doesn't exist. It'd be an insult if he got $80 for it i could sell a 1st gen with a cracked screen for $80. The ipod he's selling is $140 at minimum he could probably squeeze $160 out of it depending on the buyer.
