Hi, I just a bought an new ipod touch. I plugged the cable in to recharge it, however, when I press the on/off button it shows the image of the cable and cd with the musical note. What is confusing is that the little icon on the top right corner of the screen is the "charged" symbol according to the user manual from here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_touch_Features_Guide.pdf - page 22.

Is this behaviour normal? How long do I have to charge the battery until I can run this thing? The instructions that come with it don't tell you anything about this.

    Thanks

You have to plug the iPod into a computer and run iTunes, then sync it with the computer. The little battery just shows that you are charging it, it doesn't necessarily mean you are out of battery.

if you don't have iTunes already, download it here.

Finally, it works. It might have been the fact that I plugged it in into an usb port which I used for something else before. I tried another one and voila it worked!

strange that it should be affected by having put somethng in the same port before.
