It looks like we will definitely be seeing some major harware changes in the upcoming iPhone and 3g iPod touch due in september. I also heard a rumor saying the upcoming iPhone will have a built in iTrip. Anyway, heres the info on 4g and 802.11n.

Let me know what you guys think...

They won't put 4G in the new iPhone, simply because: it'll drive up prices, when it can't be used and it can be put in the next iPhone anyway.

4G Network isn't coming until around 2010/2011, so 4G is slightly premature IMO.

Though 802.11n would be great, the range and speed of N is just a huge boost over 802.11b/g standards

Yeah i think 802.11n is the gonna be the big difference in this iphone. I also think that the itrip built in would be real cool.

Apple will have to load more than a Wireless N card/chip in the 3G touch to make me buy it.

Maybe the next iPhone will give us hints at what is soon to come.
Or at least in iPod Touch 2G's 3.0 firmware hints will show up somewhere in the filesystem.

    802.11n is useless right now.

How many of you actually have/have access to anything that feeds out an N signal? Anyone? Anyone with an N router? Know of places that have N routers? Anyone? Only place I can think of is the Apple Store. Anyone? Anyone with N? Anyone?

I'd say most routers sold in stores today have 802.11n capability. That's pretty much what those routers say on the box now - "Upgrade your old router and home wireless network to the new 802.11n standard!" Which is mostly marketing speak for now since current devices don't have n capability. I know the router I purchased a few months back does.

Anyway, it's better to have the capability than not. I don't know how much power saving we are talking about here, but for a device like the iPhone and iPod touch, any little bit helps tremendously.

N is still NOT a standard. And it's been... several years now. It can still change drastically.
