No, it is a good thing for them not to share the information about their cable. It makes leaks nearly impossible. And this is a part of Apple "doubling down" on security. Who cares...honestly...it would take a matter of months to push out these things once Apple gives them the information they need.
I'm starting to fear for Apple as of late... One, the new rumored (but seemingly completely real) iPhone is pretty much completely hideous. I know they had to compromise to get a unibody design, but still, it could've been done better. Then, new dock connector, making everything incompatible. (In a world where I'm sure the average iPhone owner has 3+ products that make use of the 30-pin dock connection. I do and I don't even have an iPhone anymore.) And now this news... On top of having an aging and frustrating OS. (It's still extremely difficult to move a document from one app to another, and such things like that.) NOT TO MENTION a lot of apps/games won't scale automatically... The new iPhone will sell well regardless, but I'm fairly sure it won't sell nearly as much as the 4s did.
Yeah, preventing leaks.. U mean like all the pictures on this site and just about evey other site out there? Looks like they are doing a smash up job of keeping the new port "feature" under wraps.
