So if you jailbreak with a 3G and install the multitasking, wallpaper, and battery percentage, does it completely destroy your battery life? I would assume so which is why i'm debating whether or not doing it.

For some reason right now my battery life is slightly worse than 3.1.3. Not significantly, but I can notice that right now it's 65%, while yesterday it was 70% at the end of the day.

Wow, not too shabby at all considering the features

It would probably drain your battery life but not too noticeable. Also, ones with lower RAM (iPT3G 8GB and iPT2G) will probably notice some decent amount of lag whilst using multitask.
Backgrounder (multitasking jailbroken app) worked superb on my iPT3G 8GB and battery goes down like 5% in 15 minutes or something.
It's the slight lag you should be worrying about, not the battery life.

Though I have heard that the battery life in iOS4 drains rather quickly.

My 3GS has such a sh*tty battery. It was already bad on 3.1.3 and it's even worse on 4.0.
