Apparently, some people looked into the Mac OS X 10.6.2 file system and found the mysterious 'Macbook Pro 6,1 and MacBook Pro 6,2' in there along with the older laptops.

Could this be a new macbook pro? Coming with all the new hardware that came with the new iMacs? Core i5 and i7?

That's kind of obvious. Of course they are going to offer the new intel chips. They already added them to the iMac. If they don't they are going to get left behind.

I'm sure they will only offer it on the 17"er though, so no new intel for me

They usually have their iPod event September, at an independent media event, laptops are usually at MacWorld (They may have an alternative keynote this year), iPhone, Software at WWDC, and other events usually scattered throughout the year. We should be looking at a Jan release, I would think.
