This jailbreak caused all kinds of issues for me. The iPod touch would kernel panic over EVERYTHING that involved the virtual keyboard, forcing me to hard reboot the device. That means Notes, Mail, Contacts, and adding sources to Installer, even typing in website addresses in Safari. So I re-jailbroke using the ipodtoushmaster method where it makes it look like installer hangs for a while then reboots. Flawlessly working now, and I am not worried about SummerBoard or Customize, I don't really care for them anyway.

Yes, you must have WIFI on with a good signal and also have the ipod plugged into a power source so it doesn't run out of juice part way through.

I did this jailbreak of 1.1.3 from a clean restore of a jailbroken 1.1.1 (the restore looked so sad, all black background and those lonely few icons on the springboard), went back to www.jailbreakme.com, installed appsnap, then from installer OKtoPrep. Then shift clicked Update (I think the last time I did restore 1.1.2 and that doesn't let you install the installer from the windows.bat file - it runs ok but when you get to the end no installer on the springboard). Installed BDS subsytem on 1.1.2 and then the dev team 1.1.3 app installer. Then ran the app and it did the work. The app pulls the 1.1.3 software from the apple website so you must have wifi running on the ipod so it can connect to the apple server and download the software.

Everything app wise runs fine for me on this 1.1.3, I used boss tools to move the app folder first. And then I just ssh'd my back up of my original apps to the new Ipod app folder and set permissions. Since then no problems, summerboard is working fine and I got customize working no problem with a bit of command line work from one of Skylars posts on customize.

I think 1.1.3 is definately only for anyone who has ssh'd into their Ipod and really knows how to browse the directories and understand the structure of them. 1.1.3 moves the user directory which is what causes all the jailbreak app problems as they look for stuff in one place but really it is in another. This is not the fault of any jailbreak or the people who did it, it is an upgrade of the OS and how it works. I got my head round it and I'm old and a bit dim (to be fair my first computer was an Acorn Electron with a whole 32k of RAM and I had to load games into through a cassette tape player - half an hour plus of eehhhh whhhaaa zzzzrrrr bbbboooonnnggg for some damn stupid bouncing dot)

Saying that I have been on 1.1.3 for a week and I can't really tell any difference from 1.1.1, the Iphone apps (mail, weather, maps etc) see the same, it doesn't seem to run any quicker or stable, web clips and being able to move your app icons to taste is a nice touch but not exactly crucial. If you like a challenge go for the 1.1.3 JB, but if you rather like everything nice and easy with no meddling stick with 1.1.1 or 1.1.2.
