Hi all. I have an ipod touch 1st gen running 2.2.1 firmware. It is jailbroken. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get the lock sounds changed. I am aware that 1st gen doesn't have internal speakers which is why I bought an external speaker.
I have created my own sounds via ssh and winscp and I also downloaded some lock themes from Cydia. Every other sound (new mail, sms, etc) works and I can hear it through my speakers, but the lock sound maintains that 'click' sound. I have seen videos on youtube where a speaker is used w/the 1st gen touch and the lock sounds are changed.
    Can anyone help?

the lock and unlock sounds can be change via winterboard. SSh you theme as follows

    /private/var/stash/Themes.XXXXXX/Unlock Sounds.theme/UISounds/

    unlock.caf
    lock.caf

Let me know how it works for ya

Okay. Do I mess with the ones that are already there? I see 2 or 3 with the .caf extension. Even the ones I created myself has that extension. Which ones do i change?

create a new folder for YOUR sounds and give it the .theme extension.

inside that folder create a folder called "UISounds"

drop your .caf files in there

stick the .theme folder into /private/var/stash/Themes.XXXXXX

enable your .theme folder in winterboard

top themes take precedence over lower ones so put your folder near the top in winterboard by touching the right side and dragging it up

Oh. I have already done that except the files are .caf. Are they supposed to be named .theme and not .caf?

the actual audio files are .caf format , not just renamed with new extension, but converted to .caf format

the only folder that needs to be named with .theme at the end is the one you drop into Themes, ie "yoursounds.theme"

you can get the AOL lock sounds (welcome and goodbye) on cydia in themes(sounds) and study the folder structure, then just replace the .caf files, if that's easier for you

So to sum it up, I need to go back and rename my folder .themes (because I initially just named it ipod clips), and then drop the folder into the themes in ssh? But I don't need to do anything to the actual sound clips in my folder, correct?

Sorry if I seem to not be getting this, but I want to make sure I do this right.

Oh and regarding what you said about converting the files, I don't think I converted them. They were in .wav form when I downloaded them and I just renamed them .caf. I didn't convert them. Could that be the problem?

Okay, just went to my ipod clips folder in ssh, I found my clips and the all have the .caf.wav extension. Is that what is wrong?

yeah, prolly now that you have the folder structure established, you just need to figure how to make a .caf file.

i dont know how. try renaming them, couldnt hurt.

How can I replace the .caf files for the lock sounds from Cydia? That does seem easier.
