I just got a Canon 500D with 2 lenses and I realised that the battery life of these things is well.. sh*t. I'm definetley gonna get another battery or two, but should I go for a 3rd party grip which is really cheap? Is it really that essensial as it makes the camera look super ugly

it doesnt matter what the camera looks like, its more important what the images it produces look like. I've actually seen people who purposely make their cameras look ugly so they wont get stolen.

What other advantages do BGs have? The ones I know are; more batteries (obviously), portrait shutter release, some of the buttons but in portrait, and thats all really, could anyone be kind enough to convince me why I should get one?
