Well, I paid for the 3.1 upgrade but everytime I try to upgrade it freezes me on the iTunes logo and USB screen. I can't do anything once this happens. I have had to go to the Apple store three times now to have them get me "unfrozen" and what a pain in the butt that is. Some of the apps I have paid for are now not syncing since it is not compatible with 2.2.1. Does anyone know a step by step process that I can do to get this upgrade? I tried to have Apple upgrade me at the store but they said it needed to be done from my computer which is a desktop if that makes a difference.

I have restored my touch three times now because everytime I try to sync my iPod after restoring it asks to upgrade to 3.2. When I try to upgrade I get frozen out and then I can't do anything. I can't DFU......nothing. It is frustrating. Now so far all the new apps and games I have bought need the 3.2 software upgrade but I can't get it so I paid for nothing basically and I need help. Thanks for the above replies but even the shift restore is too vague and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do. Any more specifics. Thanks again.

    Its a *bleeped* up firmware

if you can download a fresh copy do so. if not get a refund and upgrade at the licensed apple store

    to get a fresh copy
put in dfu and shift restore to 3.0
then put in dfu (without syncing after restore) and restore
when it ask to download and install the new update click it

    Thanks for al the replies.

iptlolage123, can you walk me through the process? Sorry, I am illiterate when it comes to this new stuff.
How do I put in DFU again?
Once it is DFU do I plug my USB cable in to iTunes?
    How do I shift restore?
Step by step will help me if you have the time to list it. Thanks so much.
