I was trying to restore an ipod of a friend of mine with the 2.2.1 firmware on my itunes and whenever it starts restoring, it says that it can't be restored, error 5 or something like that. Can anyone help me?

It is already in DFU mode and that's what appears in the screen. Should I update itunes?

No, I wouldn't if I were you. You have a 1G, so you won't be able to jailbreak it with QuickPwn.

Its my friend's 2G. Its an iPod Touch 2G and I started to try to jailbreak it with QuickFreedom and when it was restoring the custom firmware, there was an error and I tried again and it worked but it got stuck in the boot logo, so I tried to restore the original 2.2.1 firmware to do it all over again. Any ideas?

Doesn't iTunes 8.2 not recognize any jailbroken iDevice? Anyways why is he posting in the 2G section if he's on a 1G?

EDIT: Ninja'd, and last question answered.

    I haven't upgraded my iTunes to 8.2.
    ------------------double post merged------------------
I get an error "5" and I get this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

Please any help or tips? Should I try in another computer? Should I restore with iTunes 8.2?

    Boot Logo

OK... Did you use a default logo from Quick Freedom, or did you use your own?
If you used your own, then one of 3 things happened...

    1. It doesn't have at least one pixel of transparency on it.
    2. It's not CONVERTED to PNG format.
    3. It's over 100 kilobytes.

    Other than that...
If your having problems restoring, because of something else...

Put it in recovery mode, not DFU mode.
Sometimes DFU mode doesn't work. Put it in DFU and use Quick Freedom to put it in Recovery Mode. (Last Step)

    =.= ?
