Cut the X out of whatever picture you get it from and stroke it. It would look a lot cleaner.

By the way, the giant X is written in a font called DIN MediumAlternate. I think it costs $40. To get the edging on it, here are your Layer Style settings:

    Bevel and Emboss:
    Style: Inner Bevel
    Technique: Smooth
    Depth: 1%
    Direction: Up
Size: (varies depending on size of font)
    Soften: 0px
    Angle: 120
    (Use Global Light)
    Altitude: 30
    Glass Contour: (Default), anti-aliased
    Highlight Mode: Normal, white
    Opacity: 100%
    Shadow Mode: Normal, white
    Opacity: 49%

Also, check the Contour box under the main Bevel and Emboss option, with the default contour graph selected and anti-aliasing on, with a range of 0%.

Then, on a new layer, you can add your highlight using the elliptical marquee tool to select a curved portion of your X, and set it to a white-to-transparent gradient inside your selection. Also be sure to set your gradient layer's fill opacity to 62%.

    Hope this helps.
