ok so here's what I did.

I accidently misplaced the SpringBoard.plist file when my iPhone was on 2.2.1.

It was in a continuos boot cycle so I decided if I was going to restore I might as well update as well. so I tried to upgrade to 3.0 and realize I didn't have iTunes 8.2 so I downloaded and installed it.

so now I try to uograde it to 3.0 and when it says 'Restoring iPhone Softwere and get's to about 80%-90% then is stops and enters the boot cycle again.

and btw the boot cycle is with a custom logo so apple isn't going to help much

I'd say you do a complete restore to 2.2.1 first of all. If that fails, reinstall iTunes and then reboot your system, try again.

If it still fails, put your iPhone in DFU mode and then try to restore to 2.2.1. If that fails, go back into DFU mode and try to upgrade to 3.0

    USE SHIFT+RESTORE WHEN DOING THESE

That's all I can think of at the moment.
