ok 2 days ago i tried to jailbreak a friends ipod touch 2g. i did mine last week with no problems. i got his jailbroken then installed <the bananarama ringtone> from cydia and rebooted when it asked me to. on my ipod this worked how it should have but on his its stuck on at restore loop. all i get can get on the screen is the apple logo and the connect to itunes screen. ive tried every variation of dfu mode, reinstalling tons of firmwares, and anything else i could find. please if anyone could help me get this ipod back to factory id appreciate it.

DFU and shift click and restore the origional firmware..
Or recovery and do the same.

Isn't that for installing illegal apps?

Start the entire jailbreak process from the beginning.
And by that I mean recreat the custom IPSW, send the 2.1.1 file etc etc, forget going back to factory this will still work.

Curiosity: how long did you leave it to boot?

Have you tried DFU mode, I know it was already posted, but you never said if you had tried it or not

there is an simple answer to your problem, scan old pages of this forum for a recovery mode problem. I had that happen for awhile. the solution involves using rslite or recovery to send a couple lines to the ipod, but it will fix the problem.

More info on irecovery, the method worked for me once but went back to connect to iTunes. Every time after that I get data error messages when pasting the lines
