well ive just about tried everything.
my ipod is sitting in my room dead unable to turn on or use.
yes i have tried restoring it through itunes but it says error i dont have the newest versian but i checked and i do.

ive searched threads for similar problems but found none.
ive donwloaded firmwares for my ipod but when i press shift restore
i open the file but theres no fw patch to click on its just empty folders...

so i have no idea what to do. any help would be much appreciated because my new ipod touch is just sitting in my room wasting away..
    thanks.

Have you tried putting your iPod into DFU mode?

If not, give it a try. From what I've read, you've got nothing to lose, although doing this wont jeopardize your iPod at all.

Wow... another "My iPod is bricked" thread. Wish i was getting a $1 for each one of them that came up...

You can restore from itunes WITHOUT holding shift + restore. If you just click on restore, it will download the latest firmware for you and install that.

Search, search and if that fails, search again. Once you have found what you are looking for, read it, read it and read it again. Dont miss anything. Restore your firmware and wait for an untethered jailbreak.

I had the same problem. Have you manually downloaded the firmware and saved it to your pc? Then, when you shift restore, make sure you navigate to your download folder.
    Worked a treat for me.
