Hi. Im pretty new at the updating and jailbreaking processes for Ipod touch, so i really need as much help as possible. I have an Ipod touch, firmware 1.1.5, and i also have the firmware update 2.2 (ipsw) for Ipod Touch. How can i manually update my ipod from 1.1.5 to 2.2 directly, bypassing the part where i have to pay through Itunes, using the firmware update i already have on my computer? Is it possible for me to skip the updating from 1.1.5 to 2.0 and then from 2.0 to 2.2? And one last question, would i lose all the media, i.e songs, videos, and all data on my ipod when i've completed updating the firmware of my ipod? Would this happen too if I jailbroke my ipod? Thanks!!!

Shift+click the restore button when your iPod is connected to iTunes, and browse for the 2.2 firmware. Yes you would lose your stuff if you went to 2.2/jailbreak, but easy to sync it back. Make sure to set it up as a new iPod if you decide to update to 2.2.
